Project:

During my doctoral research project I aim to investigate how non-coding regulatory regions of the genome define the concerted spatio-temporal patterning of gene expression that leads to different cell types during development. The experimental design consists of a combination of wet lab sample preparation and computational approaches for data analysis. Understanding the regulatory evolution of cell identities and the contribution of transcriptional heterogeneity could pave the way to a better understanding of further biological questions, such as the rise of multicellularity or the genetic basis of human disease.
